Dolmabahce Rotaract Club, District 2420 Istanbul, Turkey and Rotaract Club Bucuresti, District 2241 Bucuresti, Romania established twin club agreement in 6 November 2011 in Bucuresti.
One of the members of Dolmabahce Rotaract Club and the Rotaract Club of Bucuresti has met with each other in Spain Rotaract Youth Summer Camp. This relationship is the beginning point of our twinning club agreement. We have improved our communication during the next year, because of the great communication and close geographical region we decided to become twin clubs of our rotaract clubs.
First of all, we have talked and discussed about how we can improve our social and cultural involvements. We started to communicate from internet and social networks and decided to exchange one of our projects and visit each other. As Rotaract club of Dolmabahce, we have a social project for the children in kindergarten that is called as “do not remain children without a toy†and the Rotaract club of Bucuresti has a social project for the older people in the nursing home that they collected the clothes to give them in Christmas. Rotaract club of Bucuresti has arranged their interact club about the “toys†project and we have organized the “clothes†project in Turkey.
Furthermore, we have arranged a program at the 5-9 November 2011 about visiting our twin club in Bucuresti, Romania. Three members of Dolmabahce Rotaract club have gone Romania to improve our relationship and cultural interaction. They arranged a home in the center of the city for staying. This was a perfect situation for us, because we can visit and walk around the city easily. They have arranged tour programming for us for four days. We went to some traditional restaurants and tasted the traditional foods and drinks and we gave them Turkish delight as present from Turkey. We exchanged our flags in the meeting. Also, we gave them our special design pins that have the Turkish flag on it and they gave us the certificate that includes the agreement about the twining clubs arrangement of our clubs. We have had party at the one of the most famous night club in the Europe and visited the historic places in city during the four days, we have lots of fun. Also, we have talked about and exchanged our own ideas of the projects what we have done and what we are going to do. We have done brain storming and criticize our projects, so at the end of the program both of the clubs have new ideas.
Moreover, they arranged a day for going to the school to give the toys to children with their interact club. We went there and gave the toys to the school and met the interactors of the Rotaract Club of Bucuresti. Although, we have arranged the clothes project for older people in Turkey because of the earthquake in Van, Turkey, we sent the clothes to the people who survived from the earthquake.
In conclusion, we had great time with our new twin club members. We have got new friendships in different countries, cultural interactions of our countries, perfect ideas for future projects of our clubs and new view points for working styles. Now we are waiting for them in Istanbul, also we are arranging a meeting in Euco 2011 in Moscow. These new friendships are the best presents of the Rotary International for us.
